Background
How we started and got to where we are today
The history of BLIP Systems actually began all the way back in 1998, when Ericsson started the development of the first version of what we known today as BlipNet, BlipZones™ and BlipTrack™.
Already in 2001, the software was applied to a series of trials based on Bluetooth and WAP at the Swedish Railway, SEB Swedish Bank chain, ICA - a Swedish retailer and at Shell. The following year, the Danish Parliament also had the system installed for tracking purposes within the parliamentary buildings.
In 2003 BLIP Systems was founded following a MBO of Bluetooth activities from Ericsson. The following years saw various important installations being implemented and the company joining several research consortiums. In particular, installations with Real Time Location Solution for kids in amusement parks and a full data synchronisation network with more than 500 hardware units in one city.
BLIP Systems kept developing the platform and in 2005 launched BlipZones™, a complete proximity marketing solution, which already in 2006 became an award winning solution as 4 different Malls won several internationally recognised awards for innovative marketing campaigns. Today, BLIP Systems technology, has won numerous international awards (including the first ever MMA award to a Bluetooth installation - at the 2008 MMA awards ceremony in the US) and is one of the market leaders within proximity mobile marketing and other related services.
BlipTrack™, was launched in 2008, as a new revolutionary product for queue measurement, and installed immediately in two large European airports. 2009 saw further development of the product, making it the most innovative tracking tool within aviation.
