TV historian Dan Snow leads visitors through Battle of Hastings with the help of Bluetooth technology
Visitors to Battle Abbey with a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone can now download a series of free video clips to take a personal 'virtual tour' of the Battle of Hastings with TV historian Dan Snow, famous for all his different BBC history programmes such as Britain’s lost world, 20th Century Battlefields and What Britain earns etc.
The first downloadable mobile video guide of its kind in the UK, it features exciting computer-generated graphics and film from the 2006 Battle of Hastings re-enactment, the largest re-enactment ever seen at the site, and explains each stage of England's most famous conflict.
The five short clips, can be downloaded by the visitors in the Battle Abbey ticket office, restaurant and the new visitor centre, then saved to a mobile phone and played as many times as required, even back at home. Simple information and troubleshooting guides are available on-site to help explain how to activate Bluetooth and how to carry out the download, for every major mobile phone manufacturer.
The guide has been developed by Ballista Media in association with English Heritage, and is being delivered under Ballista's own Mobi-Guides® brand. The Bluetooth technology used is BlipZones and Blue-Net UK has installed the Bluetooth network.
