Universal applies Bluetooth at Gaming Convention

The Games Convention, annually held in Leipzig, Germany, is Europe’s leading computer games event.

Introduction
Three upcoming Universal Pictures blockbusters, “Hellboy 2: The Golden Army”, “Wanted”, “Death Race” were promoted at the Games Convention using SGC’s mobile solutions. In addition, Universal Pictures offered exciting, high-quality movie trailers of each film. 

Objectives
Universal Pictures and SGC wished to evaluate visitor acceptance of an entirely new product, the Bluetooth-Kiosk-Solution The campaign utilized an interactive booth deploying different Bluetooth products and offering different campaigns, such as a push campaign and a download via BlipExplorer, to interested visitors. 

Solution
With BlipExplorer, visitors could order various content items of all three promoted movies, e.g. the official demo game of the movie “Wanted”.

In addition, SGC’s Bluetooth-Kiosk-Solution offered content delivery via Bluetooth after the user had chosen the desired content and initiated the download on the touch screen panel.

Result
During the four days of the event, approximately 13,000 unique handsets (6.5% of all visitors) were detected – with a successful download rate of rate of 31%, even though the booth was in a peripheral location at the convention centre.
 
In total, 715 BlipExplorers have been pushed and 194 content orders have been successfully delivered. Universal Pictures appreciated the results and, especially, the acceptance rate of the BlipExplorer campaign. Therefore, a first official trial in cinemas soon is now under consideration.
