Copenhagen Airport uses new technology for passeger tracking.

29 June 2009

Copenhagen Airport (CPH) measures queue time at central security.

Case

Copenhagen Airport (CPH) use the Blip Systems Route Analyzer solution to measure, document and publicize queue times at the airports central security area. The information is used to inform passengers within the terminal building as well as on the web (cph.dk), about the current queue time at the central security scanning area.

About the solution

Data collection is achieved through a reader, a discreet 10 x 15 cms box which registers every passenger with Bluetooth activated on a mobile device. The process is non-intrusive and requires no active participation or action by passengers. Data, based on the unique Bluetooth ID with no personal identification, is sent directly to a back-end server for processing. New readers, routes and reports can be defined via an easy-to-use configuration wizard. The Route Analyzer is flexible and can be configured to analyze any airport process. Data from a reader can be reused for any number of different routes. Data from multiple readers can be aggregated to create virtual zones, e.g. an entrance zone covering multiple entrances.

The built-in reporting tool enables you to agree or challenge Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Service Level Agreements (SLA) with great accuracy.

Market Status

Through our various activities in the airport segment, Blip Systems are now in direct dialogue with more than 50 airports globally. The engagement is global, with direct engagement at airports in all major regions. Some very promising pilot projects have been completed at top 5 HUBs in Europe as well as Asia. Several new pilot projects are planned to start within the next couple of months. Based on input from our customers it is reasonable to conclude that the experiences from existing and completed pilots are overwhelmingly positive. With this in mind we foresee a high ratio of projects going from pilot to live implementation.
