CPH airport expands BlipTrack™ solution

Copenhagen airport sees great success and expands their BlipTrack™ Queue monitoring solution

Copenhagen Airport is so impressed with their current implementation of the BlipTrack™ Queue Module solution that they are now expanding the solution to 4 new ares of the airport, covering every single security screening facility within the airport.

Increasing effectiveness
Less than a year after the initial installation of the BlipTrack™ solution at the Central Security Screening facility, CPH now expands the solution to cover all security

screening facilities within the airport. The new areas are: Terminal 1 Domestic, SAS
Fast Track, Non-Schengen to Schengen and employee entrance.
 
Copenhagen Airport has always been keen on providing a good passenger service and
of the key metrics succeeding in this is a short queue time at the security screening
facilities. This would be done while still keeping the usage of staff resources low
and provide detailed knowledge about passenger flows and the queue times.
 
Previous manual measurements are usually carried a series of limitations not only lack
of cost-effectiveness, but also that the information was not up to date, nor accurate.
The BlipTrack™ solution provides 10 times more samples than the manual solutions, queue times are measured accurately &objectively and they are provided 24/7.

New Passenger service
Copenhagen Airport want to achieve that the passengers experiences the best journey
as possible through their time spent at the airport. The service includes many different
aspects and one of the main objectives is to ease the passenger’s journey with the least possible waiting time. The screens implemented at the airport fulfils this objective with the data supplied by the BlipTrack™ solution.
 
Multiple functionalities
The BlipTrack™ system can be applied to multiple levels within the organization:
  • The Area Manager will know where and when passenger service would benefit most from adding further resources
  • The Security Manager will know exactly what it will take to reduce the queue time with 1 minute and what the consequences for passengers would be if the case staff is reduced
  • SLA discussions related to security screening between CPH and airliners are now based on data from the BlipTrack™ solution and the existence of a 3rd party objective system has simplified the SLA negotiations.
Measurable data
The BlipTrack™ solution is based on Bluetooth and through automatic collection of
Bluetooth IDs collected from passenger mobile phones and PDAs, the data is collected
for analysis, modeling and reporting.
 
The installation at CPH is has been a 2 phased installation. Phase 1 included Central
Security and phase 2 has included T1 domestic, SAS Fast track, Non-Schengen to
Schengen and the employee entrance. In total the solution includes over 40 sensors
mounted in these various sectors.
 
The BlipTrack™ server solution has a webbased interface, providing real time queue
times, historic trends & Key Performance Indicators for analysis. The CPH installation
is a prime example of when something is done right and showing cost-effectiveness
you will want to apply it wherever possible.
