Tracking & Monitoring
BLIP Systems provides a complete product range for monitoring road traffic. The system is capable of tracking 10-15% of all cars. It provides granular real time driving times under all weather conditions. The solution is cheap and easy to deploy.
The Method
Our solutions are based on the fact that 15% of all persons have mobile phones or navigation equipment in the car which can be tracked without any user involvement by our network of Bluetooth sensors. A unique Bluetooth id enables us to follow the car throughout the network, and even between travels, without any privacy issues.
Because Bluetooth directly samples travel time (and not spot speed) Bluetooth can capture data even when larges speed variation exist across the segment as in the case where queues forms on a highway.
Our Bluetooth tracking solutions have been used in production setups in various Copenhagen and Manchester airports for queue measuring in security screening facilities for a year.
We have now conducted a very successful pilot on the Danish freeway E45 and proved that the same system can be used to measure driving times of cars travelling more than 140 km/t by tracking more than 18.000 cars every day by each sensor.
The Result
The RouteAnalyzer provides real time and historic driving times, minute by minute, road segment per road segment including extensive trend analysis facilities. Such data could be applied for intelligent traffic systems and used historically to optimize usage of existing road capacity.
The FlowAnalyzer provides historic analysis of general traffic flows in the city, typical routes taken by travelers going from A to B and Origin and Destination analysis. The FlowAnalyzer is capable of segmenting data and show flows through the road network, for specific travelers (Example, show typical routes taken by travelers entering the city at location X and leaving at location Y.)
